About Tom Maxwell
My interest in photography began in the mid 80's, while firmly rooted in the age of film. That interest was rekindled with the advent of digital and I never looked back. I'm currently enrolled at the New York Institute of Photography and hoping to graduate sometime in the coming spring. My interests vary greatly from scenics to animals to architecture and many others. Still trying to define my style while not locking into a specific genre, but no matter what I'm doing I really try to keep post manipulation of the image to a minimum. I don't want people to look at my work and say, 'I've been there but it sure didn't look like that.' While post production lends itself nicely to certain things I don't want all my work to have a surreal feel to it. Given that and with the exception of some minor cropping or color adjustment, what you see is what I saw through the lens. I hope my work brings as much joy to those who see it, as it does to me while making it.
